Eggs, lamb, bread and La Colomba are four things that no
Italian Easter table would be complete without:
The egg represents the
origins of life, new beginnings, rebirth, and hope.
The
'Pascal' lamb, represents innocence anf the sacrificed Christ (the lamb
of God) and is traditionally the meat of choice at the Italian
Easter dinner table.
The bread also holds religious significance at Eastertime,
with "the bread of life" often being referred to as
Christ.

La Colomba, The traditional
Italian Easter cake, a sponge cake with sprinkled almonds
and sugar crystals on the top, is made in the shape of
a dove, the symbol of peace.
